چکیده

We have developed a browsing tool for visualizing information about the lunar surface that uses map-based AR (augmented reality) in which virtual objects are superimposed on an actual map, resulting in a tangible user interface. In particular, our browsing tool enables a user to learn about the exploration conducted during the Apollo 17 mission by using a map of the lunar surface with geographically embedded information. We conducted a preliminary experiment to investigate the practicality of this interface compared to a WIMP (window, icon, menu, pointer) interface. The results showed that the AR interface is suitable for learning about the lunar surface and that it is probably better for children than the WIMP interface.

Evaluation of soil losses and sediment yield using modified PSIAC model

ABSTRACT- One of the big problems today human societies are faced with is the problem of soil erosion. In this study, the "MPSIAC model" was used to estimate sediment yield and provide sediment yield map in Cachoyeh watershed. The MPSIAC method incorporates nine environmental factors that contribute to sediment yield of the watershed. These factors are: surface geology, soil, climate, runoff, t...

Comparative Evaluation of Interfaces for Presenting Location-Based Information on Mobile Devices

Location-based information can now be easily accessed on mobile devices and is commonly presented in the form of lists of items, maps and more recently, augmented reality (AR). Each approach (list, map, AR) has its strengths and weaknesses. In this paper, we investigate the three approaches for searching and browsing location-based information, taking into account performance and users’ percept...

Preliminary Analysis of Mircowave Brightness Temperature of the Luanr Surface from Chang-e 1 Multi-channel Radiometer Observation and Inversion of Regolith Layer Thickness

Introduction: Previous investigations have shown that, with few exceptions, the lunar surface consists of a regolith layer that completely covers the underlying bedrock. The average thickness of this regolith layer has been estimated to be about 4-5 m for the mare and about 10-15 m for the highlands [1]. Knowledge of the structure, composition and distribution of the lunar regolith provides imp...

Stereo-Based Dense Disparity Estimation for Lunar Surface

A stereo-based dense disparity estimation algorithm is proposed to build high quality dense disparity map of lunar surface under special illumination, weak texture and occlusion condition. To avoidance the serious shadow effect effectively, intrinsic image of stereo images are preprocessed. A color similarity probability based belief propagation algorithm (BP) is proposed to solve the depth dis...

Setting Diverging Colors for a Large-Scale Hypsometric Lunar Map Based on Entropy

A hypsometric map is a type of map used to represent topographic characteristics by filling different map areas with diverging colors. The setting of appropriate diverging colors is essential for the map to reveal topographic details. When lunar real environmental exploration programs are performed, large-scale hypsometric maps with a high resolution and greater topographic detail are helpful. ...
